Garfield Refining is proud to support many causes and nonprofits in the Philadelphia community and beyond. Here are just a few philanthropic efforts we’ve done recently.
In September 2020, Garfield donated 240 N95 Masks to Philadelphia FIGHT Community Health Centers, a nonprofit that’s actively caring for patients during the COVID-19 crisis. One hundred of the masks were given specifically to FIGHT Family Dentistry, which provides comprehensive dental treatment for at-risk community members.
EARTH DAY 2019
In honor of Earth Day in 2019, Garfield Refining gave back to the community by volunteering through Philadelphia Parks & Recreation. Employees gathered at Tacony Creek Park (five minutes from our refinery!) to plant trees, pick up trash, and remove invasive vines.
GARFIELD CENTER FOR THE ARTS
Matt Garfield helped spark the rejuvenation of the historic Prince Theater in Chestertown, MD. The Garfield Center for the Arts provides 11 months of arts programming and workshops to Maryland’s Upper Eastern Shore, a rural community with needs and opportunities unique in the state.
Martin Luther King DAY OF SERVICE
Garfield Refining has been an annual sponsor of the national nonprofit Martin Luther King Day of Service. MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities.
ST JUDE CHILDREN’S RESEARCH HOSPITAL
Garfield provides annual support to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. St. Jude’s mission is to advance cures and means of prevention for pediatric diseases through research and treatment. No child is denied treatment by St. Jude’s based on race, religion, or a family’s ability to pay.
Garfield Refining has awarded student scholarships through essay contests.
